Goodnight Garden...

I've been through 2 rounds of pumpkin pies now, and around 6 loaves of pumpkin bread, and I can still say "mmmm!"

The big greeny ones are Blue Hubbards, a type of winter squash.  These are around 12 pounds each, and I had one around 19 pounds.  I have been trying to get through the pumpkins first cuz they don't keep as long, and Thanksgiving, Fall and pumpkin pie go hand in hand to me.

The leaves are dropping more quickly now, as the wet snow weighs them down.  Little yellow brick roads and paths of Aspen leaves are everywhere.  It's so beautiful.  Aside from the chill in the air, I really do love this season!

I harvested my Echinacea, Purple Coneflower,  for the first time this year, and am brewing up the tincture now.  I hope it's strong, with h1n1 on the move.  I chose to use Richo Cech's tincture recipe.  I refer to his book Making Plant Medicine quite frequently.  He has everything from alcohol/vinegar/or-glycerite tinctures, to compresses, poultices and salves, to herbal succi and teas.

Knight and our winter's cabbage store.  Wish it was still this sunny!

Here's what the garden is looking like now.  Garlic, strawberries, and carrots all covered up with straw.  Everything is as done as it will get now, even though there are still 2 rows of potatoes  under the ground.  Oh, and the white dahlias.  Well, those might have to wait another day.
